How long does a heat pump repair take?

Most heat pump repairs in Roan Mountain are completed in 1-2 hours. Our technicians carry common replacement parts on their trucks, so the majority of repairs are done in a single visit. If we need to order a specialized part, we'll let you know the timeline upfront.

Should I repair or replace my heat pump?

If your heat pump is less than 10 years old and the repair is minor, fixing it usually makes sense. If your system is over 10-15 years old, needs frequent repairs, or has a major component failure, replacement may be more cost-effective. We'll give you an honest recommendation.

Why is my heat pump blowing cold air in winter?

This could be a defrost cycle issue, a refrigerant problem, or a reversing valve malfunction. In Roan Mountain's cold climate, heat pumps occasionally enter defrost mode which temporarily blows cooler air. If it persists, call us for a diagnostic.

Do you offer emergency heat pump repair in Roan Mountain?

Yes. We offer same-day and emergency heat pump repair service throughout Roan Mountain and the High Country. If your heat pump fails on a cold winter night, call (828) 434-6587.

That constant use means components wear out faster than in milder climates. The good news? Whether your heat pump is blowing cold air in heating mode, short cycling, icing up, or making unusual noises, we'll diagnose the problem accurately and explain your options clearly. No upselling, no pressure — just honest, professional heat pump repair from a team that stands behind their work.

Signs Your Heat Pump Needs Repair

Heat pumps are built to be durable, but they'll usually let you know when something's wrong. If you notice any of these signs, it's time to call Country Comfort for heat pump repair in Roan Mountain:

• Your heat pump is short cycling (turning on and off frequently) • It's blowing cold air when it should be heating • The outdoor unit is iced over or not defrosting • You hear unusual noises — grinding, rattling, or squealing • Your energy bills have spiked without explanation • The system runs constantly but can't maintain temperature

Ignoring these symptoms can turn a small repair into a major replacement. The sooner you call, the less damage occurs — and the less you'll pay. Our Roan Mountain heat pump repair techs will get your system back up and running quickly and affordably.

Common Heat Pump Problems in Roan Mountain

Roan Mountain's climate puts unique demands on heat pumps. Cold winter temperatures mean your heat pump's defrost cycle works overtime, and summer humidity puts extra strain on the cooling side. Here are the most common heat pump problems we see in Roan Mountain:

Refrigerant Leaks: Low refrigerant means your heat pump can't absorb or release heat efficiently. We'll find the leak, repair it, and recharge your system to factory specs.

Defrost Cycle Issues: In Roan Mountain's cold, damp winters, heat pump coils can ice over. If your defrost cycle isn't working, your system will struggle to heat. Our techs repair defrost sensors, control boards, and reversing valves.

Compressor Problems: The compressor is the heart of your heat pump. If it fails, you may need repair or replacement. We'll diagnose the issue honestly and recommend the most cost-effective solution.

Thermostat Malfunctions: A faulty thermostat can cause short cycling, uneven temperatures, and higher bills. We repair and replace thermostats for Roan Mountain homeowners every day.
